Our festival stool, the FestivalChair, is different: it is made from strong cardboard, is 100% recyclable and can be fully custom-printed in your own branding. We developed it for the professional events industry, where brands want to stand out without leaving behind a mountain of waste. What is a festival stool?

A festival stool is a lightweight portable seat designed to fold flat quickly and be easy to carry. Our version is made entirely from cardboard. This gives it a clean, contemporary look while still making it surprisingly robust. Where a plastic alternative may end up in the waste stream after an event, our cardboard stool can simply be folded flat and used again or recycled when it eventually reaches the end of its useful life. The cardboard may look lightweight, but the construction is folded so cleverly that an adult can sit on it with complete confidence. Practical for your visitors and a much more environmentally responsible choice.

Cardboard with serious strength

Do not underestimate cardboard. The FestivalChair supports up to 200 kg / 440 lbs with ease, thanks to its ingenious folded construction and exceptionally strong materials, which distribute the weight across the entire surface. The material is 100% FSC-certified and largely made from recycled cardboard, so your guests are sitting on a product that has been responsibly produced.

We design and manufacture everything in the Netherlands and work with a social enterprise in Amsterdam. The stool is lightweight and folds out in just a few seconds, making set-up and breakdown quick and hassle-free. You can choose between two sizes, both based on the same strong construction.

Classic or XL?

The size you choose depends on your guests and the space available. The Classic is our standard size and fits easily into almost any stand or seating area. The XL is slightly taller and more spacious. For longer periods of sitting or for guests who prefer a larger seat, it is often the more comfortable option. Both sizes support up to 200 kg / 440 lbs and are equally easy to fold flat. The dimensions and weights of the Classic and XL are shown below.

Put your logo centre stage

This is where the stool truly becomes yours. Starting from just 20 units, you can have the festival stool printed entirely in your own branding – from a small logo to a design that continues across the sides. A personalised FestivalChair works like a small billboard: every visitor who sits down puts your brand on display for everyone around them. You decide how far you want to take the design. We use different printing methods depending on your artwork and the quantity required:

 

  • Full-colour litho-laminated print: premium print quality for designs featuring photography, multiple colours and fine detail.

Award-winning Dutch design

The FestivalChair was not a chance discovery, but an award-winning design with a genuine story behind it. Founder Tim Várdy came up with the idea during his conservatory years, when he was at the North Sea Jazz Festival and found himself searching in vain for a lightweight, foldable seat. That idea developed into a unique design with a shape that is now patented worldwide. In 2013, the FestivalChair received the Red Dot Design Award. How much weight can a festival stool support?

A FestivalChairs festival stool supports up to 200 kg / 440 lbs. This is made possible by its ingenious folded construction and exceptionally strong materials, which distribute the weight across the entire surface. An adult visitor can therefore sit on it with complete confidence.

Is a cardboard stool really strong enough?

Yes. A cardboard stool is surprisingly strong. The cardboard is multi-layered and folded in a way that allows it to support substantial weight while keeping the stool lightweight. In practice, visitors barely notice a difference compared with a conventional stool.

Can festival stools be printed with our own logo?

Yes. The festival stool can be fully customised to match your branding. Starting from 20 units, you can choose from full-colour printing, printing in up to two colours, one-colour printing, or the standard white or brown version. Each stool becomes a compact showcase for your brand.

What is the minimum order quantity?

Custom printing is available from 20 stools. For larger quantities, we use cost-effective printing methods so that even orders of thousands of stools remain affordable. We will be happy to prepare a quotation for the quantity you require.

How environmentally friendly is a festival stool?

The festival stool is 100% recyclable and is largely made from recycled, FSC-certified cardboard. After use, it can be folded flat and recycled. This helps keep the amount of waste generated by your event significantly lower.

What is the delivery time for festival stools?

Delivery is usually two to three weeks after approval of the artwork. Unprinted white or brown stools can often be delivered faster because we usually keep them in stock.
If you are working to a tight deadline for your festival or event, let us know and we will see what is possible. Smaller quantities with full-colour UV printing can often be produced more quickly if necessary.

What is the difference between the Classic and XL?

The main difference is the size: the XL is taller and more spacious than the Classic. Both support up to 200 kg / 440 lbs and are made from the same FSC-certified cardboard. Your choice depends mainly on the space available and how long your guests are likely to remain seated.
